The Journey of Kate Coburn and the Birth of Coburn Equestrian Supplies

Kate’s story with horses began when she was just a kid. One Friday evening in Berkeley, Ontario her parents drove by a horse show put on at Coburn Stables. They stopped the car and met Kathy Coburn, a riding coach that held summer pony camps for children. Kate was signed up for her first week of camp. What started as a week of camp quickly turned into weekly riding lessons, summers of helping with camps, purchasing her first horse and horse shows. Kate also met her future husband at Coburn Stables and married Trevor Coburn. They now enjoy watching their kids ride and share a passion with horses.

Kate followed her dreams of teaching as a coach and spent years as a riding coach, gaining her Western Level 3 and English Level 2 instructors’ certification with CHA in 2010. She also continued her education and earned a Diploma in Equine Studies with the University of Guelph in 2012.

Kate knew she needed to bring a little bit of her passion for horses into their new storefront location. Hence, Coburn Equestrian Supplies was born. While it offers only a small amount of tack and supplies for now, it’s part of a big dream that is sure to continue growing. If you know a horse-crazy kid (or adult), bring them by and remind them to never stop dreaming about their life with horses.
